FAQs

  • Do remove makeup before the appointment, if possible. I have makeup wipes here is needed.

You can wear any clothing to your appointment - get comfortable! I’ll be putting a neutral gray cape over your clothes to aid in the color controlled environment.

Avoid turtlenecks or high neck tops as they’re trickier to cover - otherwise don’t worry about it!

  • If your hair is dyed, that’s no problem! We will need to cover it during the analysis with the neutral gray cap to avoid color interference, but it won’t throw the analysis in any way.

In fact, we can look at your hair color and evaluate how harmonious it is for you and what options are available to you in your natural palette.

  • If you use self tanning lotion (I’m not talking about the tan that occurs as a result of UV exposure), you’ll need to wait until it’s faded before you see me. It will mess with the analysis and make it difficult to get accurate results.

If you have a natural tan, that’s great! If you have a serious sunburn, let’s wait until it’s settled before your appointment.

  • Yes! Breakouts, rosacea, allergies - no problem. Your natural color palette will still be evident in the analysis. The incorrect colors can exacerbate the surface and exaggerate the disharmony. In a way, it can actually help the process!

The only exception to this is a serious sunburn - let’s wait until it’s settled before visiting me.

  • Yes - it’s fascinating to watch! And nice to have a second witness to the color effects we’re all seeing.

There are no photos or videos allowed during the draping process as it’s protected by Intellectual Property law.

  • I book groups of up to 5 people at a time. At that point, we are pushing close to 3.5-4 hours. I don’t see groups larger than that, and there is no such thing as a “quick analysis” that is accurate, e.g. 5 min per person to evaluate a large group.

You and each individual in a group deserves thorough time, attention, and an accurate analysis in a step by step process where we evaluate each part of your color formula. There is no shortcut to getting the right result, and it must be done in person, one step at a time, thoroughly.

  • No - and no True Colour International certified color analyst will do a virtual analysis. It is simply impossible to see the effects of color draping on your complexion without using the color calibrated drapes in person. We’re studying HOW color effects you in real life. The drapes have been measured and calibrated exactly to represent specific color dimensions that elicit subtle changes in real time. We use a color controlled environment (neutral gray backdrops and full-spectrum lighting) to aid you in seeing those effects as they occur. We are also comparing and contrasting those effects against each other in a systematic, step by step process so we can get accurate results.

Most people love their color palette and feel excited about exploring new colors within that palette.

Occasionally, people wish their palette was different from the one nature gifted them. I recommend spending time with the palette and appreciating what it has to offer, and giving yourself time to adjust.

There is certainly a psychological aspect to color that is worth exploring - why do we value the types of colors we do? Is there baggage we’re carrying around regarding colors that we should/shouldn’t wear?

Exploring your new color palette may bring up some great insight into your life that goes far beyond the surface of your physique. Enjoy the journey of discovery!
